I just bought a pair of rain boots and they have this nasty rubber smell. How would I get rid of the smell?

The boots are from Target and I've only worn them once, but they still smell very strong.

You cant,it just needs to air out.

Its like "new car smell"

You could mask it with deodorant, but it wouldn't get rid of it.
Reply:You cannot really. Rubber smells like rubber. You could try to get to like the smell ;-) Latex is a turn-on for a light of people...!
Reply:I have teh same problem currently! i just got boots from target, and they smell like new tires,,,,,ugh really strong. I let it "air out" on my porch for 2 days, it didnt help. Currently, i placed a fabric softener sheet in each boot while still being outside, I will tell you if it actyually works, still experimenting.....

IT WORKS!!! AIR IT OUT AND PLACE A FABRIC SOFTENER SHEET INSIDE IT! THE SMELL IF GONEEEEEEEEE!!
Reply:Febreeze....
Reply:mix baking soda, baby powder and corn starch together and rub it all over the boots, then let it sit over night.
Reply:Gasoline, just brush it onto the boots and the gas smell should overpower the rubber.
Reply:Rub the rubber parts with vanilla extract, then put some vanilla on a paper towel and put inside the boot overnight.
Reply:febreeze will destroy the rubber. let them sit outside for a while, maybe a couple hours at the least, but make sure it's in the shade, or the strong sun might wear away the color. Good luck. (:
Reply:Just spray febreeze or if that dosent work then just set them outside on yr porch and let then air out the smell.
