Making fun of handicap people?

My mom works at the Veterans Hospital (V.A.). She is a RN their and she has been in conflict with a couple of the other nurses and doctors their, she told me the other day that one of the doctors and 2 nurses were sitting in her office when she got their and were laughing about some man who had a prosthetic leg on and a cowboy boot on the other foot and saying he look at the way he is walking and its raining as it is and they were cracking up, it piss me the **** off not only because my dad has a prosthetic leg on his right leg because he had surgery and got staff because the doctors werent clean and had to cut the infected area off but mostly because they are the son's of bxtchez who are suppose to take care of these men who served our country and the sick, helpless, and people of need and their making fun of them!!! my mom was pissed too she argued but what can we do they are the ones in charge of her? their doctors? wtf?

Making fun of handicap people?
Sad but true. I'm handicapped (wheelchair) and I try to make people comfortable with my situation with humor.


The part that really irks me is that when some people see my physical handicap, they assume I'm retarded too, and start talking baby talk and giving me long winded explanations of the most anal issues.
Reply:That is so wrong, even moreso since they are caregivers for these people. It's too bad there's no one to report them to. :(
Reply:They were wrong and you are right to be disgusted with them. Their behavior was in very poor taste. It just goes to show you, you will meet good and bad people in all careers and all walks of life. Sad to say but true. Judge people by their character and nothing else. You will be a better and wiser person for it.
